Our STORY

“Chottrish ৩৬” is a Digital archive created to collect, showcase and circulate the visual references from students perspective, of the mass uprising against the then ruling autocratic system of Bangladesh in 2024. The idea took a form by the photography students of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. This site includes images, video, audio, paper cut, graphical works other empirical data from the mass uprising of 2024.

The Pathshala Student Collective emerged from the minds of a group of young art practitioners as an intuitive reaction to the post-uprising scenario in Bangladesh. With the essence and recollections of the July Unrest deeply rooted, this group is attuned to the Social, Cultural, and Ideological changes that take shape in the times after the Uprising. The formation of this collective became crucial during the period of upheaval. The well-being and protection of Gen Z photojournalists and visual makers were severely jeopardised as they encountered such a dangerous situation. During this critical time, collectiveness was their only defence. This collective is an open participatory-based student body run by the current students of the school. This collective offers a Raw, unpolished yet real response to the developing ideas of students.
